Yukari (she/her) is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). She decided to pursue a career in lactation after having trouble with tongue and lip ties for both of her children. The lactation consultants who were vital to her successful breastfeeding journeys inspired her to help other parents find joy in feeding their babies.
Yukari believes in providing evidence-based care to achieve every parents’ feeding goals, whether it be body/breastfeeding, hybrid, or bottle feeding (with or without formula!). She has extensive training and experience in Tethered Oral Tissue (tongue, lip and buccal ties) and has a special interest in airway health. Born in Japan and raised in Boston, MA, Yukari has lived in NYC for 15 years. She lives in Prospect Heights with her husband, Tim, and her 6 year old son and 3 year old daughter. When she’s not studying or running after her two young children, her hobbies are reading, napping, and all things food (she’s also a trained chef!). Yukari is bilingual in Japanese and English and can support families in both languages. 日本語でも母乳育児サポートをさせていただいてるので、遠慮なくお問い合わせください。 |
Emma (she/her) is a Certified Breastfeeding Counselor with over 6 years of experience practicing in New York and a passionate supporter of moms and babies. She was inspired to enter this field by her own mother, Pamela Douglas MD, IBCLC, and the countless nurturing women she has met on her own journey into motherhood.
Emma uses evidence-based, holistic care to support all families within their own unique situations to meet their breastfeeding goals in a joyful and workable way. She incorporates within her work the approach of Gestalt Breastfeeding and has extensive experience with Tethered Oral Tissue (TOTs or tongue, lip, and buccal ties). Fundamentally, Emma strongly believes in the incredible ability of mothers and their babies to work together and nourish one another. Born and raised in Brisbane, Australia, Emma has lived in NYC for 13 years. She celebrated a decade of marriage to her husband Danny this year, is mother to a 6 year old and step-mother to a 14 year old. Her passions include film, music, reading (mostly epic fantasy sagas), winning at canasta, running (stupidly long distances) and adoring her friends and family. |
Cori (she/her) has been practicing as a lactation professional since 2018, but has been helping women breastfeed as a doula since 2001. She is a DONA trained Birth Doula and co-founder of Dos Doulas. Additionally she is a Certified Lamaze Childbirth Educator, Certified Breastfeeding Counselor and trained Postpartum Doula.
Cori attended her first birth in 1996 and has been hooked ever since, supporting hundreds of pregnant and laboring individuals over the years. She trained to become a birth assistant at the Farm in Tennessee and is continuously adding to her knowledge with Tethered Oral Tissues (aka TOTs or tongue, lip, and buccal ties) trainings and Neonatal Resuscitation trainings. This experience and education has allowed her to support families all throughout New York City for over 20 years. Born and raised in New York, Cori and her husband Kodjo live in Brooklyn with their two children, Ollie and Ivy, both born in their Park Slope apartment. Her hobbies include knitting, reading good books, bringing Ginger the dog to the park and hanging with her family in Brooklyn and beyond. |

Simone Toomer, IBCLC
|
Guramrit (she/her) is a Certified Lactation Counselor, in addition to being a birth/postpartum doula and co-owner of Ashe Birthing Services and the co-founder of The Bridge Directory.
After studying Magazine Journalism at Syracuse University, Guramrit spent the first few years after college working at various publications, including Parenting Magazine, before working in marketing. She also completed training as a holistic health counselor while publishing her first cookbook, Yogi Eats. It was through these interactions with her audience and clients, many of whom were pregnant or birthing people, that she became involved in birth work. She jumped right in and immediately felt in alignment. Though her professional life has spanned many different industries, each path shared the common denominator of amplifying the voices of those in under-served communities, especially in New York City and throughout New York State. Nurturing, educating, and uplifting families during transformational moments are essential to her work as both a doula and a lactation counselor. Her committment to this has only been deepened by becoming a mother to a son and daughter. Through their breastfeeding journeys, Guramrit was inspired to seek additional training and mentoring in Tethered Oral Tissues (TOTs) and airway health. When not working with patients, Guramrit is pursuing a master's degree in Infant + Maternal Nutrition with a focus on a holistic approach to pregnancy, postpartum, and infant/toddler feeding. Guramrit is also pursuing her certification as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and is the recipient of the Fall 2023 IBCLC Education Scholarship from the US Lactation Consultants Association. |
Simone (she/her) is an IBCLC with extensive experience as a birth and postpartum doula. Simone has worked with WIC as a breastfeeding counselor and as a La Leche League leader. She currently provides peer-to-peer support via the Chocolate Milk Cafe and has worked within both Woodhull and Methodist hospital providing lactation education and childbirth education.
Simone is skilled evaluating a broad spectrum of feeding issues, including Tethered Oral Tissues (aka TOTs or tongue, lip, and buccal ties) and other infant feeding complications. In her free time, she loves spending time with her two children and practicing her rollerskating! While Simone recently moved from NYC, we plan for her to return for virtual consults in 2024! |
